Why can people be so innocent
To believe they are nothing more
Than the sum of their memories
They forget that a second in time
A little sunshine in the night
Will give them reason to fight
There's no reason to live in fright
Every time they have a chance to win
They take the path that leads them
To the darker side of faith
Believing it will make them stronger
That they'll never have to cry again
When they can’t speak, can’t think
And they wonder why they stink
They don’t understand it only takes
A second in time to realize
You can kill me forever
You can give me death
But I will never let you
Extinguish the light in my soul.
