I was patiently waiting for freedom
And all it would mean for me
There was never a time
I would sacrifice my beliefs
But maybe I'd wish to sing and dance
When I felt like it
(If I had the chance)
I was yearning for the meaning of life
So cleverly disguised for me
But I thought I knew
What it meant to be free
I was never wrong
(You were never wrong)
I always knew it had to be freedom
When I was pleased with me
If I had love
The meaning of trust
So cleverly mundane
And I never search
(I never wandered)
I was patiently waiting for freedom
(But maybe it was waiting for me)
